Welcome to our blog

Welcome to our blog and our new website. It's great to have a wonderful new look . Change is a good thing. And it's nice that this change comes in spring. After a long winter with too much freezing rain and not enough powdery snow to play in, I'm itching to get the 600mm lens out and get back to photographing the beautiful songbirds that pass through on their northerly migration. I'm very lucky to live on 15 acres of forest that is surrounded by other forested properties. All totalled, there are probably 400 acres or more of forest around me and this is just great for nature and wildlife photography, especially for birds. I'm only just now beginning to see Red-breasted Robins, Red-winged Blackbirds, Great Blue Herons, and Kestrals for the first time this year. Right now, I'm hearing the Barred Owls hooting in the backyard, during their breeding season. In less than a month, I should be seeing plenty of songbirds in the forest. Of course, that will mean getting up really early in the morning to be out in the forest just as the songbirds are starting to sing, but that's ok. It's worth it. I can sleep in July when it's hot and humid and only the tree frogs are singing.

I hope you'll tune in regularly to read my blog. It will be filled with photos and stories and if new equipment, books or other things that catch my interest come up, I'll write about them. Thanks for tuning in and we look forward to your coming back to read more. - Shelley
